Final preparations are being made for Hailsham’s Christmas Market event which will take place in Vicarage Field on Saturday 5th December, from 10am to 4pm.
Organisers Hailsham Town Council and Hailsham Forward are hoping to replicate the success of last year’s big Christmas event for residents and visitors.
The Christmas Market will include around 50 stalls selling mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and other festive refreshments, Christmas gifts, decorations, cards, cakes, and many other items and there will be a full programme of festive entertainment throughout the day for all the family to enjoy, including carol singing from members of Christchurch.
Organisers are delighted to announce that there will be an open-air skate rink in Vicarage Field, which has been a feature at the Christmas Market in recent years and it is expected that it will be a major attraction for children and families again on the day. The rink will be open from 10am, finishing at 4pm.
If that was not enough, there will also be a hog roast, balloon modelling, face painting and Santa & his Sleigh (provided by Hailsham Rotary Club) will be attending the event to hand out free presents to children. Christmas music will be playing on a PA system, courtesy of Hailsham Festival FM.
Hailsham Parish Church will be hosting their Open Church from 10am to 2pm at which free coffee, tea and hot chocolate will be served.
Councillor Amanda O’Rawe, Deputy Town Mayor and chairman of the Town Council’s Communities Committee said: “Some truly wonderful market stalls will fill the atmospheric streets of Hailsham on 5th December and at the Christmas Market, there’s a good chance you’ll find that special gift for the hard-to buy for. There will also be plenty of live entertainment and activities for all the family to enjoy.”
“We had a lot of positive feedback from shoppers and stallholders last year and we’re looking forward to doing it all again next month and making the event an even bigger success.”
“The Town Council and Hailsham Forward have been working non-stop in recent months to make the necessary preparations for the Christmas Market and is grateful to everyone involved for their unflagging support.”
Please note that Hailsham High Street will be closed to all traffic from 4am to 9am on Saturday 5th December to allow for the necessary set-up of the market and again from 4pm to 8pm while the stalls are taken down.
