Date and Time Changes for Hailsham Street Market

Shopping & Retail, Town Revitalisation

Hailsham Street Market

Hailsham Street Market, which operates on a regular basis selling locally produced items and unique gifts is to change its trading dates and times from June.

Since January 2014, the market has traded in Vicarage Field from 9.30am-3pm every Saturday except the second Saturday of the month when it has been held instead on the Thursday.

WITH EFFECT FROM SATURDAY 4TH JUNE, HAILSHAM STREET MARKET WILL BE OPEN IN VICARAGE FIELD EVERY SATURDAY FROM 8.30AM-3PM. THE THURSDAY MARKET WILL NO LONGER OPERATE.

Items on sale at the street market include fresh fruit, vegetables and meat, pies and pasties, gifts, crafts and jewellery, cards, cakes, clothing, plants and flowers, shabby chic, beauty products and preserves.

The continuation of Hailsham Street Market is just one of a number of projects being carried out by the Hailsham Forward Town Team in partnership with the Town Council and local Chamber of Commerce, aimed at improving retail opportunities locally and increasing footfall within the town.

Deputy Town Clerk & Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira said: “The decision was made by Hailsham Forward to operate the market every Saturday instead with effect from June, as we were not able to secure enough traders for the Thursday market for it to be viable. By having a weekly Saturday market, we can allow more consistency for traders and shoppers alike.”

“We hope people will continue to support local producers and suppliers and support independent trade by coming along to our regular street markets.”
