Competition Time: Name the Town Council Newsletter

To accommodate the launch of its redesigned residents’ newsletter, which will debut in February 2016, Hailsham Town Council’s Strategic Projects Committee has announced its newsletter title naming competition.

The Town Council would like to receive your name ideas for its official newsletter to residents and the competition winner will receive a £50 cheque prize.

The residents’ newsletter, re-launched in September 2011 under the name The Town Crier, is produced and published by the Town Council several times a year and focuses on articles of interest to local residents including information on the Town Council’s activities, service updates, news stories, forthcoming community events, council responsibilities and councillor contact details.

As of next year, the re-designed newsletter will be distributed to all households in Hailsham tri-annually (February, June and October).

“After much deliberation, we decided those best suited to establish the name for our newsletter were the people reading it,” said Councillor Paul Soane, chairman of the Town Council’s Strategic Projects Committee.

“We are open to any type of name pertaining to the local community and it is hoped that people come forward with a great title to help encourage residents to read our news and service updates.”

Deputy Town Clerk Mickey Caira said: “Residents will be receiving the next edition of The Town Crier newsletter shortly, but, with the new design and distribution method next year, we’d like to call it something better.”

“So we are asking you our community members to put your thinking caps on, let us have your suggestions and come up with some interesting, appropriate and catchy titles.”

To take part and submit your suggestions all you have to do is send an email to enquiries@hailsham-tc.gov.uk and provide a short sentence/paragraph on why you think your suggestion would be a good title for the Hailsham Town Council newsletter.

Here are a few guidelines for submissions:

– Submit only unique and original titles

– The name should be short (2-3 words) and contain the word ‘Hailsham’

– It should express concepts such as residents and/or community

The deadline for suggestions is noon on Wednesday 16th December 2015.

Following this, the winning entry will be determined by a panel of judges and the lucky winner will be announced after the selection of the newsletter title.
