Due to the current national lockdown imposed by the Government, Hailsham Town Council‘s community hall facilities are closed to hirers and the public until further notice.

The announcement is in line with the latest government advice on social distancing and in response to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hire of community facilities managed by the Town Council, including the James West Community Centre in Brunel Drive, Fleur de Lys Meeting Room in Market Street and Southview Community Rooms in Western Road, has been suspended until such time as the facilities can be reopened for public use.

“In view that the recent decision to enforce another national lockdown that prohibits all leisure activity that would normally take place within our community halls, we had no option other than to close them,” said Town Clerk John Harrison.
“While these closures will remain in place for at least a few weeks, we will be monitoring developments and following guidelines set by government agencies with regards to when it may be practical and acceptable to reopen the venues.”

“We again apologise for any disappointment caused, but the overall health and safety of all involved in the community of the James West Community Centre and other hall and other such facilities managed by us is paramount.”
