Celebrate Hailsham Day Attracts Shoppers

Community, Shopping & Retail

Celebrate Hailsham Day market 2018

The second Celebrate Hailsham Day event organised by Hailsham Town Council and town centre shops has been hailed a success by everyone concerned, with plenty of shoppers attending.

Organisers were pleased to have worked with town centre shops on the event held on Saturday [30th June], many of which offered discounts off their goods and services and held other special promotions of benefit to shoppers.

Offering something for everyone, Celebrate Hailsham Day featured a range of market stalls selling a range of locally sourced items, as well as live music performances from The Sussex Stompers and The Memphis Flyers.

Various activities were available for children on the day including free face painting courtesy of Christchurch Hailsham and Hailsham Festival FM also attended, playing music throughout the day.

Hailsham Parish Church held an open church, serving free refreshments to visitors.

“Shoppers had the chance to enjoy a variety of special offers and promotions during this time and the event provided a unique opportunity for us all to come together, celebrate all that makes Hailsham town centre great and have fun in the process!” said Councillor Alexa Clarke, Chairman of the Town Council’s Communities Committee.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped with organising the event and for contributing to its success, including the town centre businesses who offered special promotions for customers and Hailsham Town Council staff for all their effort put into planning the day.”

Hailsham Town Council is also organising a Summer Market which will take place on Saturday 28th July, at which Vicarage Field will be home to the usual Saturday street market stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, as well as gifts and accessories.

There will be live music throughout the day from El Banda Burros (1pm-2.30pm) and the Peter Willson Jazz Quartet (10am-10.45 am and 11.15am-12pm).

The King’s Head in South Road (Harvey’s of Lewes) will be providing a beer tent and selling wines in Vicarage Field, plus Hailsham FM will be broadcasting live at the event and there will be free face painting available for children, courtesy of Christchurch.
