Further progress has been made on the organisation of the upcoming Celebrate Hailsham Day special event, which takes place on Saturday 24th June, set to bring energy and a summer feel to the town centre.

Celebrate the near completion of the Hailsham town centre road improvement works and new-look town centre, additional planning for the event has been made by the Town Council’s Communities Committee in partnership with Hailsham Forward, and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.

Celebrate Hailsham Day will take place in Vicarage Field and the High Street and feature market stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, gifts and accessories.

There will also be a candy floss stall to tempt visitors, as well as the local air cadets selling strawberries, cakes and Prosecco and the Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) with their smoothie bike.

Various activities will take place on the day for children including face painting, balloon modelling, a tea cup ride and sensory tent. Hailsham Parish Church will hold its open church from 11am to 1pm where refreshments will be available and Hailsham FM will be in attendance at the event.

Organisers are pleased to be working with the town centre shops on the event, many of which will be offering special discounts off their goods and various promotions on the day.

Deputy Town Mayor and chairman of the Communities Committee, Councillor Amanda O’Rawe, said: “I’m delighted to be part of organising the Town Council’s summer festivities again this year and I’m sure that the Celebrate Hailsham Day event, which is a special celebration of our town being open again for business, will support our community in all the wonderful things they are doing locally.”

“There will be a wide range of stalls from local and regional traders selling high quality products, as well as some fun activities for children and refreshments available throughout the day.”

Hailsham Town Council and Hailsham Forward are also in the process of organising this year’s Summer Food & Drink Market which will take place in the town centre on Saturday 29th July, when there will be additional food and drink traders selling cheeses, meats, pastries, fruit, vegetables and speciality foods.”

Full details, including scheduled entertainment acts and other activities organised for the Summer Food & Drink Market will be announced in the coming weeks.
