Hailsham Town Council is pleased to announce that it has just launched a brand new section of its website dedicated to promoting news updates on its Neighbourhood Plan project and links to public consultation documents.

In the new part of the website, you will find announcements of meetings, events, public consultation activities and other project-related news from the Town Council’s Neighbourhood Planning Committee.

The section is accessible but still under construction and will be added to over the coming weeks and months as work progresses on developing the Neighbourhood Plan for Hailsham and engaging with the public through questionnaires and public information events. The Neighbourhood Planning pages can be accessed here.

Town Clerk John Harrison said: “We are excited about the Neighbourhood Plan for Hailsham and felt it would be of benefit to residents to be able to access information on the project in one click together with links to important public consultation documents, in particular, questionnaires and surveys.

With the proposed construction of 9,380 new houses in Hailsham and the surrounding area in the future, the Neighbourhood Plan will consider what sort of homes should be provided and the level of infrastructure — design, sustainability, environment, transport, facilities and services – required to support both new development and the existing community.

“The Neighbourhood Planning Team has a duty to build strong and positive links with the local community,” said Councillor Paul Soane, chairman of the Neighbourhood Planning Committee. “Over the course of the next 12-18 months, will engage with residents on all levels by way of public consultations to raise awareness of the team’s progress, pop-up shops, family engagement events and surveys to gather local views and establish local priorities.”

“This is a major opportunity for all of us to help shape the future of Hailsham and we hope residents and the community at large will find the Neighbourhood Planning pages on the Town Council’s website useful.”
