The Mayor of Hailsham opened a local church group’s new extension at a special event held at the Ropemaker Centre on Sunday [5th November].

Councillor Nigel Coltman cut a ribbon to declare ChristChurch’s new upstairs extension officially open – a room which can accommodate up to 60 people and will be very beneficial for the church’s growing youth and children’s work.

Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman said: “I was pleased to be invited to be part of the opening of the extension to ChristChurch, which will be focused on use by young people. It is encouraging to see the increase in use of this church’s facilities by the Hailsham community”.

ChristChurch moved into the Ropemaker Centre, a bare warehouse, in December 2014 and they have transformed it into a multipurpose building used throughout the week.

Their steady growth of attendance has also fuelled the need for more auxiliary rooms, leading to this building project.

Lead Pastor Simon Fry said, “We are very excited about this additional space as it will enable us to accommodate the growing numbers of families God is giving us and to provide more activities to serve the community of Hailsham mid-week.”

ChristChurch meets for their main meeting on a Sunday morning at 10am, but also run many community activities throughout the week. These activities include a chess club, parent and toddler group, activities to those who are retired, and youth groups.
