A loyalty card scheme is to be launched in Hailsham later this year to give customers a greater incentive to use town centre shops and promote businesses locally.

The Hailsham Loyalty Card scheme, which is being funded by town team Hailsham Forward, is fully supported by Hailsham Town Council and members of Hailsham & District Chamber of Commerce.

The scheme will offer exclusive discounts and offers to cardholders on independent retailers throughout the town centre, helping businesses gain new regular customers in the process.

Annual membership will cost just £10 and cardholders will be able to use the card to receive unlimited local discounts in all the local businesses that are part of the scheme including any online businesses together with any other towns across Sussex that are signed up to the scheme, including Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill.

The shopper will simply ask for the discount and shows their Hailsham Loyalty Card to get the saving. Furthermore, there will be no points to collect, no paperwork and no vouchers to print out. Members will benefit from a free app and website profiling each business and their discount.

Hailsham Forward, which endorsed the Hailsham Loyalty Card scheme and provided £1,000 for start-up costs and promotion, is encouraging Hailsham retailers to participate in and create revenue from the scheme.

Free benefits for businesses include:

  • Creation of revenue as the Hailsham Card will be sold as the businesses own loyalty card
  • A microsite on the website and app with GPS maps, profile, offer, contact and opening times
  • Social media promotion (posts boosts on Facebook and Twitter)
  • Bespoke videos that are optimised to rank on Google
  • Direct email marketing to the membership

A ‘Buy Local’ solution which will be endorsed by Hailsham Forward will help create revenue for the businesses participating in the scheme through membership sales and new membership.

“It’s so important that people shop locally and we hope residents and visitors to the town will take advantage of the loyalty card scheme when it is launched later this year,” said Deputy Town Clerk and Business Enterprise Manager Mickey Caira.

“The loyalty card has proved popular in other participating towns and it would be good for both local businesses and shoppers to actively set up a similar scheme here in Hailsham.”

Councillor Nick Collinson, vice-chairman of the Hailsham Forward Executive said: “Hailsham has so much to offer to shoppers and the launch of this exciting loyalty scheme will really help to boost retail and footfall into the town centre. Cardholders will be entitled to a range of exclusive discounts and offers.”

“The scheme is also ideal for local businesses to promote themselves and I would urge as many retailers as possible to register with the scheme to benefit from more customers. Start-up costs are low and implementation of the scheme is simple and hassle free.”

More information on the Hailsham Loyalty Card Scheme will be released closer to the launch later this year. If you are a local business and wish to enquire about registering with the scheme visit www.towncitycards.com/business
