Hailsham Children's Market 2016

The countdown is on to Hailsham’s Children’s Market which takes place in the town centre on Saturday 25 June from 9.30am to 4pm, set to bring energy and a summer feel to Vicarage Field.

Further preparations for the event have been made by the Town Council’s Communities Committee in partnership with Hailsham Forward, and organisers are confident that it will be a great family event offering something for everyone.

The market will feature items of interest to children such as toys, crafts and confectionery, as well as the usual Saturday stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, gifts and accessories. There will also be a mouth-watering hog roast to tempt visitors and a candy floss stall.

Various activities will take place on the day for children including face painting from 11am to 3pm, balloon modelling throughout the afternoon and a special appearance from Elsie The Dalek.

Pupils from Hailsham Academy, Grovelands and Park Mead Community Primary Schools, Hellingly Primary School and White House and Marshlands Academies will have stalls providing games and activities for children raising money for the schools and a joint raffle draw.

Hailsham FM will be broadcasting the event live.

Deputy Town Mayor Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said: “I’m delighted to be part of organising the Town Council’s summer events again this year and I’m sure that the Children’s Market will support our community in all the wonderful things they are doing locally.”

“The Town Council has worked hard in recent months to make the necessary preparations for the Children’s Market event and is grateful to project partner Hailsham Forward for their hard work from the outset.”

Councillor O’ Rawe added: “There’s a good chance you’ll find something special for the hard-to buy-for and there’ll be plenty of entertainment and activities for the children throughout the day. Therefore, I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and take advantage of what the Children’s Market has to offer!”

Hailsham Town Council is also organising an additional Summer Food & Drink Market which will take place in the town centre on Saturday 30th July, when Italia in Piazza will join other food and drink traders selling cheeses, meats, pastries, fruit, vegetables and speciality foods.

Full details, including times, scheduled entertainment acts and other activities organised for the Summer Food & Drink Market event will be announced in the near future.
