Celebrate Hailsham Day

A special Celebrate Hailsham Day event organised by Hailsham Town Council in partnership with Hailsham Forward and town centre shops has been hailed a success by everyone concerned, with plenty of shoppers attending.

Organisers were pleased to have worked with town centre shops on the event, many of which offered discounts off their goods and services, and held other special promotions of benefit to shoppers.

Townfolk took part in the special event held in the High Street, George Street, North Street, St Mary’s Walk and Vicarage Field on Saturday [24th June], an event which marked the new-look town centre and declared Hailsham town centre open for business.

Offering something for everyone, Celebrate Hailsham Day featured a number of market stalls selling a range of locally sourced food, gifts and accessories, a candy floss stall to tempt visitors, as well as the local air cadets selling strawberries and Prosecco and the Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) attracting passers-by with their smoothie bike.

Various activities were available for children on the day including face painting, balloon modelling, a tea cup ride and sensory tent. Hailsham Festival FM also attended and played music throughout the day and Hailsham Parish Church welcomed visitors at their Open Church session.

Deputy Town Mayor and chairman of the Town Council’s Communities Committee Councillor Amanda O’Rawe said: “Shoppers had the chance to enjoy a variety of special offers and promotions during this time and the event provided a unique opportunity for us all to come together, celebrate all that makes Hailsham town centre great and have fun in the process!”

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped with organising the event and for contributing to its success, including the town centre businesses who offered special promotions for customers  and Hailsham Town Council staff for all their effort put into planning the day.”

The Town Council is organising its next community event in partnership with Hailsham Forward, the Hailsham Summer Food & Drink Market, which takes place in the town centre on Saturday 29th July. Full details, including scheduled entertainment acts and activities organised will be announced soon.
