The Town Mayor's Introduction...
Cllr Dr Ian G. Haffenden JP
Mayor & Chairman of Hailsham Town Council
"Hailsham is a vibrant and historic market town which dates back to 1252. A weekly cattle market is held on Wednesdays and a general market takes place every Friday. On the second Saturday of each month, the Farmers' Market allows everyone the opportunity of purchasing locally grown food and crafts.

Every Christmas, Hailsham’s streets are ablaze with festive lights, which cannot be compared with any other town in the area.

The focal point of Hailsham is St Mary’s Church which has recently been floodlit by Hailsham Town Council in partnership with the Parochial Church Council.

Our local Heritage Centre is open to the public and gives the history of Hailsham in great depth.

After shopping, why not relax in one of Hailsham’s cafés, tea rooms or one of three local town centre pubs where you can find cuisines for all tastes. Hailsham is well worth a visit.

At our Council offices in Market Street, our friendly and helpful staff are always willing to help or assist you in your visit to Hailsham. They will also professionally respond to residents with any problem relating to Town Council responsibilities, or guide you to other agencies and local authorities to address your concerns or enquiries.

My role as Mayor is to represent our community with great diligence. I can be contacted either at home on 01323 845241 or by email: cllr.ian.haffenden@wealden.gov.uk"
