The Town Mayoralty
The Town Mayor for 2011-2012 is Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor, who was elected in May 2011. The Deputy Town Mayor for 2011-2012 is Cllr Richard Grocock, who was also elected in May 2011. The role of Town Mayor typically includes:
Acting as an ambassador for Hailsham, promoting it regionally and internationally
Fostering strong working relationships with local trade and industry
Supporting local charities and community groups
Promoting, wherever possible, the educational and vocational life of Hailsham
Chairing council meetings
Receiving regional and international visitors
Representing the town of Hailsham at civic functions and engagements
