The Town Mayor until May 2013 is Cllr Jo Bentley, who was elected at a meeting of full council on Wednesday 21st November 2012. The role of Town Mayor typically includes:
Acting as an ambassador for Hailsham, promoting it regionally and internationally
Fostering strong working relationships with local trade and industry
Supporting local charities and community groups
Promoting, wherever possible, the educational and vocational life of Hailsham
Chairing council meetings
Receiving regional and international visitors
Representing the town of Hailsham at civic functions and engagements
